With the ACU (Australian Catholic University) project being situated in a semi-residential area in Northern Sydney the University had some very specific requirements with regards to privacy for the local residents along with internal lighting requirements for lecture rooms.
The challenge was to introduce enough light throughout various times in the day (and year) to create a productive learning environment whilst maintaining privacy and creating shade from the western afternoon sun. We achieved all of these things using Okaflex by Okalux.
Okaflex is a fully automated louver system encapsulated within an IGU (Insulated Glass Unit) controlled by the BMS (Building Management System) which allowed the university to have control of the privacy and shading to meet their requirements.
AGC were involved from the initial stages working with the Architect (BVN Donovan Hill – Sydney).
